Danielle Legg LMSW (She/Her)
Staff Therapist | New York State
Hi, I'm Danielle. I'm a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) providing compassionate, affirming psychotherapy to adults and young adults across New York State. I believe therapy should feel like a safe, collaborative space — one where you can show up exactly as you are. Together, we'll explore what's feeling heavy or stuck, build on your strengths, and develop practical tools to support your growth and healing.
My Commitment to Affirming Care
I am deeply committed to providing LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC affirming care across New York State. I approach every session with cultural humility and genuine curiosity about your lived experience. Your identity, relationships, and community matter — and they are respected and valued in our work together. My goal is to create an inclusive space where you feel understood and empowered as we move toward your therapeutic goals.
My Approach to Therapy
I use an integrative, insight-oriented approach tailored to your unique needs. Therapy with me is collaborative and flexible — we'll find what works best for you. My primary modalities include:
Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT): Exploring relationships and life roles to better understand and address current challenges.
Psychodynamic Therapy: Gaining insight into the roots of patterns, beliefs, and behaviors to foster deeper self-awareness and lasting change.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) & Somatic Work: Blending practical coping strategies with mind-body awareness to support healing from trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and emotional dysregulation.
I have experience supporting clients with:
Trauma and PTSD
Anxiety and depression
Adjustment and life transitions
Self-esteem and emotional regulation
Low to mid-level acuity and related concerns
Grief and bereavement
Specialized Clinical Focus
Grief and Bereavement I provide trauma-informed grief therapy in New York State for individuals navigating all forms of loss. Grief is deeply personal, and I honor the complexity of each person's experience.
Veterinary Social Work & Pet Loss Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a Licensed Veterinary Technician. This background allows me to offer specialized support around companion animal loss, pet bereavement, end-of-life planning for pets, and the unique occupational stress and trauma experienced by veterinary professionals. The human-animal bond is profound, and the grief that accompanies its loss deserves compassionate, skilled care.
Credentials and Experience
I earned my Master of Social Work from Nazareth University and am fully licensed as an LMSW in New York State. My clinical experience includes work in private practice and community-based settings, including the Center for Youth and Sodus Central School District, where I provided individual counseling and group therapy to clients across the lifespan.
Therapy is a space for you — wherever you are in your journey. If you're ready to begin, I'd be honored to walk alongside you.
